Functions Of 12 Cranial Nerves Of The Brain
Our brain consists of 12 cranial nerves and each of these nerves is responsible for a different function of our body. Understanding the working of these 12 cranial nerves is the first basic step in learning the working of brain. Olfactory is the first pair of these nerves and it is responsible for each and every smell that you are sensing with the help of your nose. So, all your smell sensing feelings are transferred to your brain through this olfactory only. The second pair of nerves is called as optic and as the name suggests, they are responsible for the vision. But, the other functions of the eye such as the movement of the eyelid and the eyeball are being done by the third pair called as oculomotor. The next pair of the 12 cranial nerves is the trochlear and it is responsible for the movement of your eyeball in both vertical and horizontal movements. The eighth pair of nerves, vestibulochoclear is responsible for merging the sound tracks heard by our both ears in to a single musical track. In other words, it makes equilibrium between the sounds heard by the two ears. Food lovers have the glossopharyngeal nerves more when being compared to the other people those who do not have much passion towards food. The food you eat gets digested with the help of the vagus pair of nerves and it stands the tenth position in the 12 cranial nerves. These nerves are also responsible for slowing up your heart rate when they are increased as a result of running, dancing, and so on. It does so by sensing the blood pressure of your aortic. Without spinal accessory, you can never consume your food, as this helps in swallowing the food items after being grinded in your mouth. When the spinal accessory helps to swallow the food after grinding, the 12th pair of cranial nerve helps you to grind the food properly. It is called as hypoglossal and it is responsible for the movements of your tongue, only through which you can move the food particles that are not grinded properly to the teeth surface for the purpose of grinding them.
